Beyond the Stars is a storytelling-led, immersive digital learning experience designed to promote healthy eating behaviours among primary school children in Fiji by reconnecting them with local food culture and traditions.
Developed as part of the broader Legends program, the initiative aimed to address nutrition challenges through a culturally grounded, technology-enabled approach to behaviour change.
As Program Lead, I directed the end-to-end design and delivery of the pilot in partnership with Sydney-based design studio S1T2, alongside government, community, and education stakeholders across Fiji. The experience combined interactive storytelling, gameplay, and cultural narratives to create an engaging and locally relevant learning environment.
I led strategic stakeholder engagement and successfully secured Cabinet-level approval from the Fijian Government, in addition to establishing key partnerships with Vodafone Fiji and Huawei. These partnerships enabled program delivery through the provision of tablet devices and sponsored connectivity infrastructure.
The pilot was implemented across nine primary schools, integrating the platform into classroom settings and supporting both teachers and students in adopting new approaches to health education.
Following its success in Fiji, the program was expanded into additional Pacific regions, including Wallis and Futuna and New Caledonia, demonstrating its scalability and adaptability across different cultural contexts.
